Coming Home From Romania

This post is a continuation of our trip home from Romania back in June.
We stopped just long enough to say "hello" at the nursing home.

And then we were off to the airport to fly to Germany. We spent the night at the Regent Motel in Munich.

I spotted this sewing machine just inside the lobby.

I made good use of the 10 hour flight home hand stitching on my hexie quilt.

What a lovely welcome. These grands came to surprise me for my birthday!

En Provence and Tina's 5th Birthday

I finished clue #4 of Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt "En Provence." Now I'm wondering how the green and yellow will work into the mix.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We were invited to Craigs for pizza on Saturday evening...
... in celebration of Tina's 5th birthday.
The lady bug cake was a hit with the children. Just look at the black mouths an tongues from that icing!
Graber Reunion
Life ...
We had a Graber Reunion this weekend at the school with around 75 in attendance.
Elizabeth & Maria Miller
Kelly kept the children entertained with her watches.
Sherri fixing poppers for the children.
Get ready, get set, shoot!
Jeanie sewed this comfort top together from Mom's scrap bag.
Miriam, Evie, Autumn, Josie, Bonnie
It wasn't long until we had it all completely tied.
Evie, Autumn, Maria, Josie, Elizabeth, and Dorcas
Frying fish and hush puppies for Saturday's supper.
Craig, Galen, Richard, Kevin, and Jason with Tina looking on.
I enjoyed the beautiful sunset as we drove home from all the activities of the day.
... as a Quilter
From this picture that I took of Paul's folks about a year ago ...
... I fashioned this 18"X15" quilt and gave it to them for her 80th birthday.
Sunrise, MQA Meeting, Lost Quilt
Life ...
Occasionally I get up early.
Talya, the birthday girl. I got her a nice card with a large 5 on it.
And then when we got to her house for her party I found out that she only turned 4!
... as a Quilter
We enjoyed a guest, Marietta J. from the coast for one night.
She along with the other MQA board members came here for a meeting on Saturday.
I wish I could find my other bunk bed quilt like this one that I made back in the 1980s. If you see it somewhere, please let me know!
It is made from a lot of scraps from my old dresses and Amy's dresses.
Teryn's 2nd Birthday, Guests, Linda's Lilies, and Outside Fun
Life ...
Teryn and the turkeys greeted us for an evening of ...
... celebrating his 2nd birthday.
We welcome a new grandson, Rusty Cole into our family. Quinten & Evie now have a quartet of boys.
Recent visitors in our home were my first cousin Elaine & Larry Picket, all the way from Yakima, WA.
And from further away, we welcomed Horatiu and Gina from Romania.
Georgi and Tina wanted to see what it looked like inside the hog barns.
Talya joined them in the cotton. It wasn't as much fun as they were hoping with all the hulls and sticks poking them.
... as a Quilter
I have finally started to quilt Teryn Ray's quilt that I started way back here.
Linda and Carol Sue came and spent the day with me. Linda quilted her "Lilies" that she had started in my class in Starkville.
I really like how it turned out.
The quilting added an extra dimension of color and texture.
Life as a Quilter
AUGUST
Life ...
Ashton, Kirby, and Stacy never seem to tire of each other.
I set the timer for 5 minutes for them to "play band."
Paul had me pull up bit by bit as he dropped the corn from the overhead bin into the trailer.
 Craig entertained the little ones for a short moment.
... as a Quilter
I invited the Possum Town Quilters to our house for our monthly "Sit and Sew."
Using this picture I took of an antique shop in Columbus for inspiration, ...
 ... I created this quilt block for a PTQ challenge.
For Thelma's birthday gift ...
... I made this small quilt from a picture of her quilting.
