Summer 2017

Haiti Benefit Auction in Ohio

Parking at the auction.

MCC Connection in Kidron, OH

I found the loom fascinating and wished someone would have been there to weave.

It is tedious work tracing around a bow tie template onto small rectangles, cutting them out, ...

... and fusing them to a navy background.

I drove Quinten to the field to check the moisture of corn.

Picking a few cobs.

Ashton fashioned a grain auger from Legos to unload corn.

I enjoyed a visit to Old Man River Quiltfest in Vicksburg, MS with my friend Ebba ...

... and Judy.

I had a fun day with some of the grands during the 2017 Eclipse.

The colander worked well for seeing the eclipse.

Ashton gets a view of the eclipse.

A pleasant evening at Joels & Quintens.

In the corn patch.

Life and Roses Through the Lattice

Life ...

Blue Moon and Reflection outside our front door.

Corn harvest is in full swing.

Getting ready for Sunday company.

I made two peach and two peanutbutter.

Our guests:
Dwight & Chrystal and family

Paul's sister Miriam and Kenneth from Taylorsville, MS.

Paul's folks, Ben and Silva

Joel and Belinda and family. They just recently moved into our area from Michigan.

Paul's sister Jeanie and Galen

... as a Quilter

The quilting is finished and it's ready to be blocked.

It's amazing how a quart of water makes a quilt lay and hang flat.

Harvesting Corn, Lily, and Bubbled Double Nine Patch

Life … on the farm

Quinten gets the combine ready for the day.

Cutting corn and unloading it into a grain cart.

Bronson and Gabriel hauled the corn away as fast as Quinten could cut it.

Ashton loved riding with Gabriel for a while.

Uh-oh! Problems in the wiring harness.

The ground is gradually turning red from the bees wings of the corn kernels.

After a windy day there was actually a drift of bees wings on the east side of the shop.

Paul gave the neighbors a ride after a hard day’s work.

Today I fixed up my mobile design walls in preparation for Saturday’s “Lily” Workshop in Starkville.

Wheat Harvest and Wishful Quilting

Life …

I picked up Kirby and Stacy at 3025 and brought them home to play with Ashton.

… behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. –John 4:35

Cutting the first swath around the field.

Following Grampa.

Grampa showing our grandsons how it is done!

I received my “Spring Storm” quilt back from the SAQA exhibit Southern Voices, in Little Rock, Arkansas.

My design wall has been like this for weeks. I’m hoping I can work on it today.

A Busy Week

Life …
Perry and Emily’s son Andy, brought a friend, Grant, along down to Mississippi from Virginia to help a few days on the farm harvesting beans.

I kept Talya for one night and part of a day while her sister Georgi went to the hospital for hernia surgery.
IMG_8429

As I was leaving for Starkville one day, I noticed a light in the dash that warned me of a low left front tire. Quinten and Jamie got me going again.
IMG_8452

I baked three peach pies. One for us here at home and the other two for our school’s annual fish fry on Friday.
IMG_8438

The school gym was full with attendees at the fish fry.

And then we had the Annual School Benefit Auction on Saturday.

Gabriel helped run “Grandpa’s Express” making lots of children happy.

Paul and I practiced and sang with this octet for Jerry Yoder and Cindy Mast’s wedding.

My sister Emily took me to Boonville to Mr. Claude’s quilt and fabric shop. He uses a yardstick, carpenter’s square …
