Tina and Talya Make Rainbow Trees

Tina and Talya came for a visit today. Between all the giggling and talking they each made a piece of fiber art. Using their pieces that they started a couple weeks ago, they quilted and finished their work.

Tina's "Rainbow Tree"

Talya's "Rainbow Tree"

Our inspiration is the original "Rainbow Willow Tree" by Cinnamon Cooney.

Tina used my trusty old #170Bernina to quilt her piece.

Talya quilted her piece with my new #B780Bernina.

They signed and dated their fiber art as Cinnamon suggests.

The back sides.

Between sewing times they walked around the pond and picked up duck eggs for me. Can you tell which girl held the bucket and which girl gathered the eggs?

Coming Home From Romania

This post is a continuation of our trip home from Romania back in June.
We stopped just long enough to say "hello" at the nursing home.

And then we were off to the airport to fly to Germany. We spent the night at the Regent Motel in Munich.

I spotted this sewing machine just inside the lobby.

I made good use of the 10 hour flight home hand stitching on my hexie quilt.

What a lovely welcome. These grands came to surprise me for my birthday!

A Few Grands and Improv Quilt Workshop

Life ...
This evening we celebrated Rusty's 2nd birthday.

Talya, Georgi, and Tina made special letters with stencils, watercolor markers, and stickers.
The boys entertained themselves by running a remote toy from the other side of the carport.

... as a Quilter
I enjoyed teaching an improv class today.

Summer Life

Life ...
Did I mention that I got a ...

... helicopter ride this summer?

It was so neat to be sitting there and then gently lifting up, up, up and away!

I don't know the name of these beautiful flowers ...

... in my friend's yard.

Teryn helped me make his cake for his 4th birthday.

Occasionally the farm boys need me to take them to the field.

... as a Quilter
I exhibited at a gift shop in Columbus for their annual ArtWalk.

Carol

I made this small fiber art piece of my friend Carol for her birthday.

Her daughter Loretta sent me this picture of Carol taken when she was 18 years old.

I scanned it into the computer and added a filter, and then printed it onto fabric.

Carol was pleasantly surprised with her small gift.

My sister June from Virginia has been visiting for a week now. She and I visited a local watercolor artist Francis Hairston and enjoyed her paintings.
