Another Willow

I'm in the process of making another "Willow" art piece. It looks like this and measures 25"X20."

If you look close, you can see harps dangling from the branches. I'm trying to depict a portion of Psalm 137, "we hanged our harps on the willows." What would be a good name for this piece?

And yes, it will be for sale. $350

Gallery Opening of A New Twist on Fiber Art

I enjoyed the gallery opening at the Rosenzweig Art Center last evening showing some of my work along with lace tatting by Sherry Pence.

The staff at the gallery did a great job hanging my work.

I was both honored and humbled by all the people that showed up to enjoy the show. It was so fun visiting with them.

And then to sell 4 pieces, just put the icing on the cake!

Sherry and me.

After I got home I made chocolate milk shakes and took them to the field to Paul and Ashton where they were disking up corn ground.

The Pine Series, Fractured Roosters, and Mother Goose

I'm packing my vehicle with my art quilts to take to the RAC in Columbus, MS.
We plan to hang my fiber art exhibit this afternoon.

I just recently finished this piece, "Winter Forest" that measures 56"X71". I had originally thought to make it a quick and easy throw but when I got to the quilting part, it turned into an art quilt. See the beginning stages of it HERE.

Inspiration for this piece came from my "Pine Tree" series.

I made this "Fractured Rooster" piece in a class with Marilyn Rose. You can read about it HERE.
Then I decided to make a depiction of part of that quilt.
"Fractured Rooster II" measures 10"X8" and is mounted on black mat board.
In honor of Mother Goose's 30th year at the library, the Friends of the Library has declared 2016 the "Year of the Goose," and the RAC wanted to celebrate, too!

Here is my piece to honor "Mother Goose." It measures 8"X10" and is mounted on black mat board.

Corn for Heritage Bible School

Life ...
Paul reads to Kirby, Stacy, and Ashton.

Our church put up corn for Heritage Bible School.
It didn't take long to husk 20 bushels.

Many people showed up to help clean and silk the corn.

Ready for the cooker.

Cooking

Cooling

Cutting it off the cob.

Scraping out tubs of cut corn to be ...

... bagged in gallon bags.

And then of course, we could eat all we wanted.

Originals and Depictions

I'm trying to get an inventory sheet ready to submit to the Rosenzweig Art Center for my upcoming exhibit. In the mean time, here are a few of my pieces that will be on display.

My original "Ezekiel Saw the Wheel" quilt measures 53"X53."

And here I have made a depiction of that quilt using a filter at DreamScope.com. I edited the piece and printed it out on cotton fabric. It only measures 7.5" X 7.5" and is heavily quilted, faced, labeled, and mounted on black mat board.

I also took one Mother's oil paintings that she painted as a wedding gift in 1963 for Uncle Edgar and Aunt Evelyn and ...

... made a depiction of that painting. (Used by permission) This one, called "Serene Lake" measures 10"X7" and is also heavily quilted, faced, labeled, and mounted on black mat board.
