A while back I posted a tutorial on how I make my "grid" quilts. I was pleased when Vreni from Switzerland shared a picture of her creation, "A Blackbird's Delight" with me. I think she did a marvelous job; and to think she is giving it away in a 'quilt swap.'

The Virtual QuiltOut
I have been following The Virtual Paintout for some time now. I keep thinking that it would be fun to participate in the paintout using fiber as my "paint." Each month there is a different place to explore on Google Street View.
Napa Valley in California was chosen for June of 2016. I explored many places and finally settled on Castello di Amorosa. Here's the link for my street view. https://goo.gl/maps/Q7VGELRB5yB2
Using DreamScope.com I used the 'watercolor' filter to paint my fabric by sending it through the printer. Then I layered the top, batting, and backing together and quilted it +/- 1/8" with Superior Thread. It's faced, labeled and mounted on black mat board.

This is the same picture, only I zoomed in for a closer shot and used the 'angle hair' filter in DreamScope to 'paint' my fabric and then free motion quilted it.

Amazing Grace -- Fiber Art
I'm getting more pieces ready for the RAC Exhibit in July. I took my "Amazing Grace" piece, documented here, and used a filter at DreamScope.com to edit a picture I took of the original. I then printed it onto commercial cotton fabric and quilted it heavily with Superior Thread +/- 1/8" and now it's faced, labeled, and mounted on black mat board.

Guests, MQA Classes, and Note Cards
Recent guests in our home came from Virginia, where I grew up. Eldon Horst, John & Ruby Hartzler, and Jodie & Samuel Heatwole. They were traveling with the Shenandoah Valley Chorus who gave us a wonderful program at our church.
I attended the MQA June Gathering in Jackson the other week. They offered both art quilt and ...
... traditional quilt classes.
We had guests again; this time for Sunday lunch.
Tillie and her daughter Oneida Miller
Ben & Krista Fleagle and family along with his sister Terra.
John & Carol Yoder
Russ & Loretta Martin and family
I had fun making these scrappy fabric note cards for my upcoming July exhibit at the Rosenzweig Art Center.

Fiber Art Exhibit - RAC
Pinch me! I'm excited about having a fiber art exhibit at the Rosenzweig Art Center in Columbus, MS for most of July. Sherry Pency is sharing the gallery with me and does tatting. Our card will look something like this.
We plan to get the exhibit ready on July 5 and then there will be an opening reception on Thursday, July 7 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There is no charge to see the exhibit. Everyone is welcome. Sherry plans to do a demo on tatting which should be interesting and informative.
