While traveling last month in Utah we crested the top of a hill on US 163 and this beautiful scene was before us near mile 13.
My picture just doesn’t do justice to the beauty so I decided to let my fabric brighten up the scene for me.
I used the “Fast Finished Triangles” for mounting and the label.

WOW - I remember that sight !! from years ago when we travelled the West of the US. I love your quilt, it captures the essence of that view so beautiful ... thanks for the trip down memory lane ;-))
What a gorgeous piece! Love your colors, and how you captured the scene.

wow - what a lovely reminder of your trip. The stitching is wonderful!
Oh I lived in Utah and this quilt captured the scene wonderfully. I love the close up picture of the stitching too.
What thread did you use? Very effective. Very peaceful to see on the wall every day

I think your fabrics did a fantastic jog along with your talents of recreating the photo. Absolutely stunning!!

What a wonderful way to be reminded of a wonderful journey with your family! You are truly an artist!
Just lovely! If you enter it in a quilt show, I see a ribbon on this piece.
Wow! This is truly a masterpiece, excellent work!
Have a great day.

A gorgeous piece. Mary Ann
Oh wow, Julia! I had no idea variegated thread would work this well on a landscape. Just gorgeous!!!!
So beautiful! I love it. Thanks for showing the close up pics of the quilting - I was wondering if the mountain quilting went vertical. Love the raw edged and thread painted near bushes. Landscape is something I've been thinking about for years... you are inspiring more thought.
Hugs
Julia I was wondering how soon we would see a quilt about our trip out West. I love the way you spiced it up with the fabrics.
Good choice to combine those purple and yellow complimentary tones so they intensify each other!
Great Quilt! I should do that with some of my Utah pixs.
Your narrative came across as so casual and easy ... like it was no effort to make your piece! Yet there are hours of work on that scenery and wow, you really captured it!
That is amazing, Julia! I love this style of quilting but must enjoy it from afar - it's not in my skill set! So whoop whoop for you for a fabulous finish! Thanks for linking up with Can i Get A Whoop Whoop Friday!
Julia, your Monument Valley piece is excellent! The dense quilting really adds life to the already beautiful picture. Nice job!
You did a beautiful job.
Wow indeed. Love all aspects of this. The thread work really adds to this doesn't it? I have some king tut thread too, mayble I'll pull it out...
