Tourists in Chattenooga and Log Cabin Quilt

Life ...
Paul checks the corn to see when it will be ready to harvest.

We had a weekend trip to Chattenooga and visited Rock City.

It was a beautiful walk through the rock garden between boulders and greenery.

We also visited Ruby Falls in an underground cavern.

The Tennessee Aquarium was another tourist attraction for us.

I usually only take pictures of souvenirs; but this time ....

... I brought one home and Paul and Ashton assembled it for me.

... as a Quilter
I'm working on this improv log cabin quilt.

In the Heat of Summer and Twirly Birds on Exhibit

Two of my pieces "In the Heat of Summer" ...

... and "Twirly Birds" ...

are included in the exhibit Mississippi Quiltings at The MAX in Merdian, MS through Aug. 11, 2019.

Here are the details of the exhibit.

Material Pulses: Seven Viewpoints

May 25, 9:00 am – August 11, 5:00 pm

Material Pulses: Seven Viewpoints,* the next changing exhibit at The MAX, focuses on the art of quilt making, and represents seven fiber artists from around the world. Curated by internationally renowned artist and teacher Nancy Crow, Material Pulsescontributes to the dialogue of contemporary textile arts. Says Crow, “Material Pulsesis the culmination of my mission to bring back the majesty, strength, and energy of textile works, particularly large quilts.”
Mississippi Quiltings is the materialization of talent from right here in Mississippi. Twenty quilts were selected from submissions of original quilts by Mississippi artists to make up this exhibit. Paired with Material Pulses, these exhibitions will expose Mississippians to new techniques and hopefully inspire new artists.
Free with museum admission.

Teryn Colors & Quilts Curious George

I helped Teryn make this quilt from ...

... a page he colored.

He leaves nothing uncolored.

He wanted to make a quilt from his handiwork, but I soon saw that he was more interested in using the sewing machine than cutting out fabric. So I did the cutting and fusing.

 He did the quilting.

... and stitched the binding.

All finished.

Rhianna Makes an Art Quilt

While I was in Virginia this spring, I helped my niece Rhianna make an art quilt. She drew a picture of the Eiffel Tower. Then we translated it to fabric and she quilted it.

Patches Workshop

I recently had a "Patches" workhop in our home. These ladies came from Alabama, Mississippi, and as far away as Kentucky. We had a delightful time together.

They worked hard to get their pieces quilted before leaving.
