… as a Quilter

Katie, a new quilter, makes wee quilts for stillborn babies. One to wrap the baby in for burial and the other for the grieving parents.

… as a Quilter

I finished my trial Mississippi license plate block. Since this was a trial, I decided to go ahead and quilt it. I want to simplify, yes, simplify for my real quilt block for the AMB blog tour. I’m calling it

“Go Mississippi.”

American Made Brand Fabric by Clothworks and Mississippi License Plate Quilt Block

http://americanmadebrand.com/
I was recently invited to be part of a blog tour of American Made Brand fabric. Clothworks is introducing a new line of fabric that is grown, produced, manufactured and distributed in the USA.  So when Candace at Clothworks asked me to participate by making a Mississippi license plate block using the AMB fabric … I said yes.

The fabric arrived recently and the colors are beautiful. They are all solid.

I decided to make a trial block using fabrics from my stash. I found a picture of an old license plate …

… and zeroed in on the pine trees, the magnolia flower, and the ocean at the bottom. Here’s my first trial quilt block.

… as a Quilter

Remember the “Christmas Cactus” quilt that I started years ago? I got it back from my longarm quilter, Elmina and added the binding to finish it up.

I think instead of “Christmas Cactus” I'll call my version “Raspberry Cactus.”
I found the pattern in an old “Quiltmaker” magazine. You can purchase the pattern from here.
