Stitching – Bonnie Hunter’s Grand Illusion Mystery Quilt

With my sister Polly’s persuasion, I decided to join in the fun of making Bonnie Hunter’s mystery quilt, Grand Illusion this year.
I’ve thought long and hard about fabric selection considering the value of the fabrics along with the color. And yet, we don’t know how the quilt will end up so it’s hard to know which values to use. I guess it’s all part of the fun.

Bonnie posted the first clue on Friday and I’ve made 30 of the 100 broken plate blocks that are needed. Then I arranged them just so to get some sort of a design.

This is last year’s mystery quilt, Celtic Solstice, that Polly and I made. I love the way both of these quilts turned out in their own unique color ways, so different, and yet so alike!

Thanksgiving Day

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. –Psalm 100:4

This morning the birds flocked around the house by the thousands.

There was only a small group of us Grabers together for lunch at Lanell & Rhoda’s.

This looks like a fun and easy way to farm.

I cleaned the counter tops in the sewing room getting ready for Bonnie Hunter’s mystery quilt, “Grand Illusion” which debuts tomorrow morning. I’m having second thoughts about my choice of pink fabric. I like the richer darker look, but I’m second guessing if it contrasts enough with the green and blue.

I wonder how many of you readers are joining in this year or just following along?

Another Glimpse Through the Lattice

On my design wall...
IMG_5248

I chose these fabrics a couple weeks ago trying to decide if they would work for another “lattice” quilt.

The process has begun.
IMG_5225

And it continues to take shape though I switched sides of the countertop.

The fusing is finished.

I pinned it to my design wall and tacked up the rockers that didn’t make the cut for my first “lattice.” I’ll think on this for a while before finishing. Maybe another blue rocker, or 2 blue rockers, or … something completely different.

Pizza Supper Guests and Fiber Art at Columbus Arts Council

Life …

Some of our guests this evening included,
Darryl & Laura S. They are in the process of moving to Detroit and haven’t been around for a while.
IMG_5254

We also enjoy the presence of Gabriel and Dana from around the corner.
IMG_5255

Gabe is getting his bi-wing ultra light plane close to flying. They taxied it around today. Scary!
IMG_5251

And then Quinten & Evie and their boys were also here.

Dana and I played basket ball with Kirby, Stacy, and Ashton using the dumpster for the hoop.

We missed Craigs, Dustins, and Joel’s girls.

… as a Quilter

This is the view you get when you walk into Gallery 2, the gift shop, at the Columbus Art Center. I am so pleased how they presented my pieces. There’s 8 of them there. Can you find them?

And then out in the main gallery they are exhibiting pieces that are “Artfordable.”  Everything is $100 or less hoping you can find just the right gift for that special person. Here are my pieces in that exhibit.
