Guests, MQA Classes, and Note Cards

Recent guests in our home came from Virginia, where I grew up. Eldon Horst, John & Ruby Hartzler, and Jodie & Samuel Heatwole. They were traveling with the Shenandoah Valley Chorus who gave us a wonderful program at our church.

I attended the MQA June Gathering in Jackson the other week. They offered both art quilt and ...

... traditional quilt classes.

I had fun making these scrappy fabric note cards for my upcoming July exhibit at the Rosenzweig Art Center.

Fiber Art Exhibit - RAC

Pinch me! I'm excited about having a fiber art exhibit at the Rosenzweig Art Center in Columbus, MS for most of July. Sherry Pency is sharing the gallery with me and does tatting. Our card will look something like this.

We plan to get the exhibit ready on July 5 and then there will be an opening reception on Thursday, July 7 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. There is no charge to see the exhibit. Everyone is welcome. Sherry plans to do a demo on tatting which should be interesting and informative.

We had a Graber Reunion this weekend at the school with around 75 in attendance.

Let There Be Light

I finished my next Southern Fiber Artists challenge piece. The requirements were:

Size: 8"X11" portrait

Color: royal blue

Theme: light bulb

There were so many good suggestions that came in from comments on FaceBook for a title for my piece that it was hard to choose. "Frontier Cabin," "The Hide Away," "If These Walls Could Talk," and "Be It Ever So Humble" were among my many favorites. It was hard to pick a title but I finally settled on

Let There Be Light.

The back is finished with a facing, label and hanger.

It's now mounted on black mat board and ready to join the other challenge pieces.
