We had a guest speaker, Nell Oliver, who came and showed us a few of her quilts.

I thought this top was finished and ready to be quilted. But no, Nell is adding another round of beautiful applique to make it a bed size quilt.

Our Possum Town quilters are eagerly learning her techniques for hand applique.

We welcomed a new grandchild on my birthday, June 30. Joel and Sheila are glad to have Delta Joy join their family with Georgi and Talya. She only weighed 4 lbs. and 15 oz..

Life and Possum Town Quilters

Life …

Kirby graduated from kindergarten.

Miss Kendra made dresses for the girls in the class.

Fun on the seesaws.
IMG_2848

For teaching school for 3 years, our sewing circle gave Miss Renee a quilt, Raspberry Cactus. She is second from the right.

Oh, if only I were old enough to play Prisoner’s Base.

More fun on the playground.

… as a Quilter

Katie, a new quilter, makes wee quilts for stillborn babies. One to wrap the baby in for burial and the other for the grieving parents.

Possum Town Quilters

We had lots of inspiration at our recent meeting of our local quilt guild.
Judy and Lauren pieced this quilt top to be hand quilted in this next year for the Columbus Welcome Center.
IMG_1594

Judy showed us her Bonnie Hunter’s “Easy Street” from last year’s mystery quilt.
IMG_1592

Some of the ladies finished their “Silos” (and a dead tree) from the class I taught several weeks ago.
IMG_1623

Barb’s “Airplanes” will make a great quilt for a flying enthusiast grandchild.
IMG_1608

Tonya, our ‘over achiever’ finished her 2013 Block of the Month quilt.
IMG_1618

Terri is about to finish this quilt for her nephew.
IMG_1597

Patti made a small quilt to improve her hand quilting.
