Life and Teryn’s Quilt

With some leftover concrete, the farm help adds on to the approach to the pump house. Kirby and Stacy look on.
IMG_20140326_160424454

We visited Gabe and Dana’s ‘Old McDonald’s’ farm this evening.

… as a Quilter

Most of the blocks for Teryn’s quilt are now finished and ready to be sewn together.

Life, Guests, Teryn Ray’s Quilt

Life …

Angie’s folks, Greg & Irene, and her sister, Renee came to visit Craigs and see their new grandson, Josiah. Tina was more interested in Harold and the Purple Crayon than she was getting her picture taken.

… as a Quilter

I’m starting now on Teryn Ray’s quilt.

I've started making his name now, TERYN RAY. You can check it out here.

Magnolia Mennonite – Annual Comfort Knotting

Some of us ladies and children met at the school gym to pin comfort tops, batting and backs into the frames.
IMG_1939

We also cut out bibs from towels for the local nursing home.
IMG_1941

Bias tape was sewed around the edges of the bibs.
IMG_1963

Later we decided that we could serge the edges instead of using the bias tape.
IMG_2017

Our day’s labor produced three stacks of bibs.
IMG_2067

The children had fun playing while we worked.
IMG_1951

I loved seeing all the comforters leaning up against the walls …
IMG_1959

… ready to be tied with yarn.
IMG_1960

Dorcas brought her school children out to tie one of the crib comforters.
IMG_1964

I think they were pleased as punch with their accomplishment.
IMG_1974

People started arriving around 5:00 pm for the evening knotting.
IMG_1994

Rolling ‘er up and getting ‘er done!
IMG_2021

George and Beth enjoy a little time together.
IMG_1989

I remember years ago my mother telling me, “many hands make light work.”
IMG_2004

I’ve heard it said that “every quilt needs a little yellow.”
IMG_2009

IMG_2024

It was fun to watch the boys around this comforter. Evidentially a cup of tea was needed to get the job done.
IMG_2031

My favorite spot for the evening was sitting at this quilt.
IMG_2036

I think little Abby is plenty young to be roller skating.
IMG_2063

An what could be more fun than a game of dodge ball to end the evening?
IMG_2056

And now comes the job of binding all 16 of the comforters.

Celebration -- SAQA Benefit Auction Quilt

I finished my second “fireworks” quilt that measures 12” X 12” and I’m calling it “Celebration.” It will be up for auction with SAQA this fall.
Celebration 12X12

“Yes, they shall sing of the ways of the Lord and joyfully celebrate His mighty acts, for great is the glory of the Lord.” –Amplified Bible

This piece is made from commercial cotton fabrics cut and fused to a cotton background. Heavily quilted with Superior Thread’s Fantastico polyester thread.

The label on the back.

And now I’m making a “Carpenter’s Wheel” quilt block for our PTQ’s challenge.

Ben Graber Family Get-Together in Eufaula, Alabama

IMG_1912

… and it’s all because of her!
IMG_1766

We walked across the road from our cabin to get a glimpse of a small portion of the “Little Grand Canyon.”
IMG_1668

I think Josey was just being Josey!
IMG_1668 IMG_1672 IMG_1669IMG_1670 IMG_1671

It’s a long way to the bottom just across that little flimsy board of a fence.
IMG_1677

Then we drove to Providence Canyon State Park for more adventures.

Georgia’s “Little Grand Canyon.”
IMG_1743

“Massive gullies as deep as 150 feet were caused simply by poor farming practices during the 1800s, …” (http://gastateparks.org/ProvidenceCanyon)
IMG_1755

Some of us hiked to the bottom of the canyon.
IMG_1709

IMG_1719

These ‘serious’ hikers decided to go for the 3 mile trail, while the rest of us went back the 1/4th mile we had come.
IMG_1715

See those little people at the bottom of the canyon? That’s where the ‘serious’ hikers ended up.
IMG_1756

We waited at the visitor’s center for the ‘serious’ hikers to get back.
IMG_1724

IMG_1727

Later some of the men decided to go hunting for wild hogs.
IMG_1809

Randy is getting in that last phone call before it’s time to sit still and be quiet.
IMG_1813

Dorcas brought a rooster for Jeanie to take home. Jeanie wasn’t as fond of him and had a hard time loving him like Dorcas did.
IMG_1787

The rooster did his job and woke us up … even when he wasn’t supposed to.
IMG_1801

“Like father, like son!”
IMG_1688

While the hunters were gone some of us played “Corn Hole.”
IMG_1818

Josey and Jerrill keep score.
IMG_1854

Too bad the Acadia doesn’t use diesel fuel.
IMG_1772

Happy 80th Birthday, Daddy!
IMG_1897

Mom enjoys one of their 30 great grandchildren.
IMG_1908

We took turns fixing meals and had a very nice kitchen in which to work.
IMG_1882

Singing the songs of the Church and heaven was a precious time together.
IMG_1861

I’m so thankful to be grafted in to this wonderful family.
