Quilts for Lois and Josey

Remember how the Graber ladies got together to celebrate Lois’ 60th and Josey's 40th?

I decided to make them each a small quilt.

I enlarged the pictures and tweaked them on the computer and then printed them onto fabric.

And then the stitching began.

Lois’ neck looked too fat and puffy so I added some stitched lines to slim her down!

The backs are labeled and finished with fast finished triangles and ready for hanging.

A Trunk Show at Our House

When Cindy A. asked to bring 19 quilters to our house to see and talk quilts, I was more than happy to oblige.
Cindy Allgood (Julia's)

I draped quilts over the balcony and told stories of each one and then flipped it back to the couch on the loft.

Then they gathered in my bedroom for a …

I showed them my sewing room and talked about my fiber art quilts.

Lunch was next on the agenda.

It was a beautiful day and some of the ladies chose to …

Then we gathered back into the living room to talk more quilts.

I think I enjoyed the day as much as they said they did!
When they left here they stopped at The Ole Country Bakery in Brooksville and then headed South to The Village Cloth Shop in DeKalb, MS. I wonder what all they bought!

WIP Quilts on the Balcony

I gave our balcony a new look this evening. All the projects are quilt tops that are almost finished. Some of them need a border and all of them need quilting.

I guess I need to buckle down and get to work!

A Truck Ride, A Fish Supper, AL Quilt Symposium, and Magnolia Sewing Circle

Life …

I rode with Paul the other day to deliver a load of wheat.

We are approaching the scales at Tom Soya at Valley Grain near Pickensville, AL.
IMG_3282

This was the view out my window while we were dumping the wheat. It is loaded onto barges and shipped to Mobile for export.
IMG_3288

The Grabers had an afternoon and evening together for Paul’s folks. Daddy fed the fish to make catching them easier.
IMG_3303

I think they have their quota.
IMG_3307

Galen was glad for his vice grip to pull the hook from a fish’s mouth.
IMG_3304

Jeanie’s skills at filleting came in very handy.
IMG_3296

Jerrill preferred using an electric knife to fillet.
IMG_3314

Some of the fish were breaded and fried …

… while Quinten grilled some of them.

Dorcas made 3 gallons of ice cream with goats milk. And yes, it was good!
IMG_3297

These cousins enjoyed each others company but became right sober when my camera showed up.
IMG_3341

I enjoyed holding these two munchkins.

… as a Quilter

I took Velda K. and Louise S. to Birmingham to the Alabama Quilt Symposium.
IMG_3268

I like this “Orca Bay” quilt that my friend Judy S. made.
