Quilting with the Possum Town Quilters

I prepared a red and green string quilt as a project for our Possum Town Quilters.
Using an old algebra book for foundations we placed a yellow strip diagonally in each block with
red on one side and green on the other side.

Karen is a new member and brought along some of her fiber art for show and tell. I love her use of bright colors
and improvisational designing.

Paul’s mom had a birthday this week. We took supper to her and Daddy and enjoyed the evening. They have
lots and lots of purple martins.

I helped with the ‘string quilt’ project. We started this quilt last year. You can read about it HERE.

Some of the blocks ended up smaller, so we decided to make two separate quilts.

Thelma made 4 string blocks at home for the beginning of another “String quilt.” The same 4 blocks look different depending which color you turn toward the center.

These ladies continued quilting the Rocking Horse Quilt that we started last month.

Martha and Krista stitch on a bright “square in a square pineapple” quilt that I had pieced earlier.

Magnolia Sewing Circle

Today I got to sew with the ladies and children from church at our regular monthly sewing circle.
IMG_4899

They started quilting a new top that had languished in the back corner of the cupboard for years.
IMG_4900

Sherilyn sews the binding to a quilt that Paul’s mom embroidered years ago when she worked nights at the hospital.
IMG_4897

Sisters, Rosetta and Cheryl pieced blocks for tops.

Evie and Karla cut out small dresses to be sewn up.
IMG_4901

Carson and Alan found building blocks for entertainment.
IMG_4906

Teryn reminds me so much of his daddy when he was this age.
IMG_4903

Evie helped spearhead this project of clothing and such for Operation Ukraine.
IMG_4907

Rhoda and Karla manhandled those boxes easily.

IMG_4911

I sewed the ‘string’ blocks together for this ‘string’ quilt that was started a year ago.
IMG_4915

I brought it home and cut more strings to make it two rows longer.

We’ll work more on it next month at our “Guest Day Sewing.”

A Truck Ride, A Fish Supper, AL Quilt Symposium, and Magnolia Sewing Circle

Life …

I rode with Paul the other day to deliver a load of wheat.

We are approaching the scales at Tom Soya at Valley Grain near Pickensville, AL.
IMG_3282

This was the view out my window while we were dumping the wheat. It is loaded onto barges and shipped to Mobile for export.
IMG_3288

The Grabers had an afternoon and evening together for Paul’s folks. Daddy fed the fish to make catching them easier.
IMG_3303

I think they have their quota.
IMG_3307

Galen was glad for his vice grip to pull the hook from a fish’s mouth.
IMG_3304

Jeanie’s skills at filleting came in very handy.
IMG_3296

Jerrill preferred using an electric knife to fillet.
IMG_3314

Some of the fish were breaded and fried …
IMG_3332

… while Quinten grilled some of them.

Dorcas made 3 gallons of ice cream with goats milk. And yes, it was good!
IMG_3297

These cousins enjoyed each others company but became right sober when my camera showed up.
IMG_3341

I enjoyed holding these two munchkins.
IMG_3320

… as a Quilter

I took Velda K. and Louise S. to Birmingham to the Alabama Quilt Symposium.
IMG_3268

I like this “Orca Bay” quilt that my friend Judy S. made.

Two handles on a basket with cherries? plums? or …?
