Legal Eagle Seat

The boys are fixing up the Legal Eagle, an ultra lite airplane. I’m not sure you can call it an airplane. It’s more like a lawn chair with wings and a motor. The aluminum seat was in dire need of repair and they ask me to make the seat of fabric.

They chose the drab olive brown fabric instead of the hot coral pink or the large, in vogue, red and blue chevron canvas that I thought would be nice.

Careful now. Take it easy!

And there is still more work to be done before they can fly it again.

Houston Quilt Show and a Goal

Over the years I have admired the quilts of Caryl Bryer Fallert. She had an exhibit of 30 Quilts for 30 Years and a very interesting lecture which I enjoyed.

Each quilt measured 30”X30”

And here’s another quilt I like.

The quilt show was held at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Wouldn’t this picture make a neat ‘fresh modern quilt?’

I enjoyed a “Craftsy” demo by Victoria Finley Wolfe.

This kite quilt would make a wonderful throw or crib quilt for a child.

to have a small 7”X10” quilt finished by the end of November for SAQA.

Houston Quilt Festival

I learned to know Kathy Kansier a couple years ago in Hattiesburg. I sat in one of her lectures and then got to visit with her later.

Susan Cleveland makes pretty, precise, patchwork. She designed some tools to make the precision easier.

I love the color and design of the Kaffe quilt.

Emily and Sandy admire these hearts made of roses.

They took a class together and are excited about making these art quilts.

It Takes the Case often had a crowd of people around it.

Abe Lincoln made by Virginia Greaves is a striking piece. I follow her blog.

Emily and I pose with the infamous carpet between the Hilton and the Convention Center.

I love the simple patterns of Blue Underground. I’ve made the Union Station quilt like what is displayed in the bottom right corner and the top left corner.

Alex Anderson is so warm and personal. It was like she enjoyed visiting with little ole me!

When I met Mary Mashuta she was as glad to see me as I was to see her. She found her twin sister Roberta Horton so we could have a picture together. Their mother grew up here in Mississippi in Brooksville!

Quilt Festival–Houston, TX

The exhibit of quilts made by Libby Lehman is spectacular and very special.

I was so pleased that Libby’s son Les and sister Ellen let me pose with them in front of one of Libby’s quilts.

I really enjoyed visiting with the maker of this quilt.

This kaleidoscope by Paula Nadelstern caught my attention.

This quilt was inspired from a sketch this lady doodled and colored with her grandson.

The Best of Show is “Chihuly”s Gondola” by Melissa Sobotka.

 This smaller quilt called “Wind” by Masanobu Miyama is exceptionally well done.

Cypress With Moss – Fiber Art Quilt -- Blogger's Quilt Festival

I discovered that you could have two entries in Amy’s Creative Side’s Blogger’s Quilt Festival.

With that in mind I decided to enter

“Cypress With Moss”

into the ‘wall hanging’ category.

I cut out the pieces from cotton fabric and fused them onto a cotton background. It measures 16”X20” and is heavily machine quilted.

I really like the artwork of Robin Whitfield and took a beginners watercolor class with her.

She gave me permission to translate her work into fiber art. So, from a picture of her watercolor painting “old cypress with spanish moss / Sky Lake WMA - Swiftown / September” on the right, I made this fiber art piece on the left that I call
“Cypress With Moss.”

I used “fast finished triangles” on the back so it is ready for mounting.
